At The Pet Physio, I offer evidence-informed physiotherapy for dogs, cats, and other animals from my clinic in Brighton. Whether your pet is recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, or simply slowing down with age, I'll work with you to build a treatment plan that's tailored to their specific needs.
Every patient starts with a thorough physiotherapy assessment. I evaluate your pet's mobility, posture, range of motion, muscle strength, and pain levels to get a full picture of what's going on. I'll also take a detailed history and, where relevant, liaise with your vet to make sure we're all working towards the same goal.
From there I'll put together a treatment plan that addresses the underlying issues rather than just the symptoms, and talk you through exactly what to expect at each stage.
Therapeutic massage is used to reduce muscle tension, promote relaxation, and improve circulation to injured or overworked areas. It's particularly helpful for pets with muscle soreness, stiffness after surgery, or chronic pain conditions. Most animals find it very calming and it's often a good starting point for nervous patients.
Gentle joint mobilisation techniques are used to restore normal movement in stiff or restricted joints. This is especially beneficial for pets with arthritis, post-surgical joint restrictions, or conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia. The goal is to improve range of motion and reduce discomfort so your pet can move more freely and comfortably.
Targeted stretching helps improve flexibility, maintain joint health, and prevent muscle tightness from building up over time. I incorporate stretching into treatment sessions and also teach owners how to continue this at home as part of their pet's ongoing care.
Exercise prescription is one of the most important parts of rehabilitation. I design specific exercise programs to rebuild muscle strength, improve coordination, and restore normal movement patterns. This might include balance work, controlled walking programs, or specific strengthening exercises depending on what your pet needs.
I use a Companion Animal Health Class 4 laser device as part of many treatment plans. Laser therapy helps reduce pain and inflammation, promotes tissue healing, and can significantly speed up recovery after surgery or injury. You can read more about laser therapy and what to expect on this page.
What happens between sessions matters just as much as what happens in the clinic. I provide every patient with a clear, easy-to-follow home exercise program so you can support your pet's recovery at home. I'll show you exactly how to do each exercise and adjust the program as your pet progresses.
I work with a wide range of conditions including:
